− | '''Electron Crystallography School 2024'''
| |
− | | |
− | The International Union on Crystallography (IUCr), IUCr Commission on Electron Crystallography, Special Interest Group for Electron Crystallography (SIG4) of the European Crystallographic Association (ECA) and Italian Crystallographic Association (ICA) are organizing “Electron Crystallography School 2024" (ElCryS24) as a satellite event to the 34th European Crystallographic Meeting (ECM34), held in Padua, Italy.
| |
− |
| |
− | The school will take place right before ECM34, on 24 - 26 August 2024 in the Department of Geoscience in Padua. Details and further information can be found on the School website: https://elcrys24.sciencesconf.org/

− | '''Oxford School of Neutron Scattering, 3rd-13th Sept 2024'''
| |
− | | |
− | Applications open till 30th April
| |
− |
| |
− | The Oxford School of Neutron Scattering is a two-week summer school covering the basic theory of neutron scattering, neutron sources, instrumental techniques and scientific applications. The School takes place at the Department of Physics, Oxford University, with board and lodging provided at St Anne’s College.
| |
− |
| |
− | The Oxford School is an ideal introduction to neutron scattering for PhD and Post-Doctoral researchers who have little or no experience of neutron techniques. It is classroom based – with lectures and tutorials provided by leading experts, and includes practical training in experimental proposal writing and a tour of the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source.

| |
− | | |
− | ''Date: 20th-23rd May 2024 and 3-4th June 2024''
| |
− | | |
− | Location: KTH Royal Institute of Technology / Online, DESY
| |
− | | |
− | Engineering Materials Science using Neutrons and Synchrotron X-rays is a PhD level course providing learners with knowledge of how to apply scattering techniques to applied engineering materials problems. Learners will also gain hands-on experience of scattering measurements and data analysis at the PETRA III Swedish Materials Science beamline. The course comprises lectures, at KTH or online, as well as practical sessions in Hamburg.
| |
− | | |
− | This course is also relevant to researchers in institutes and companies whose research outcomes would benefit from applying scattering techniques to study materials engineering phenomena.

Physical Crystallography Group (PCG) & Structural Condensed Matter Physics (SCMP)
The PCG of the British Crystallographic Association (BCA) and the SCMP of the Institute of Physics (IoP) are two names for the same group. The aim of the group is to promote and support physical crystallography in all its current forms. We organise meetings and workshops, award a thesis prize every year and a lecture prize biennially. There is also limited funding to provide student bursaries to help towards the cost of attending international conferences.
The aim of this website is to provide information to our members and hopefully attract new members from the community. The site is in the form of a ‘wiki’, which allows users of the site to add their own content and comment on others. In this way it is hoped it will be a dynamic home for the physical crystallography community.
